Dog Activities

Dogs are born companions- your dog should be included in family activities and given regular attention to make it feel as loved and valued as you would expect from it.

A simple ritual that will help to strengthen your relationship and provide enjoyment for both of you is an early morning walk around the neighbourhood, which will help you both to feel energised throughout the day. Alternatively, an evening walk can be a wonderful way to unwind after a stressful day at work, and in summer, can be a particularly pleasant way to cool down.

Whenever you decide to make your daily walk, it is a good idea to make a local park your destination- once there, you and your dog can sit down and quietly relax, or play a game. Most dogs love playing with balls- even if you are unable or unwilling to exercise with your dog, simply tossing a ball for them to chase is a great way to play.

When you and your dog do things together, you are building a structure that allows you to better communicate with one another, and your dog is given a better opportunity to learn good manners and appropriate behaviour, making them much easier to live with and to keep under control.

When you enjoy the time you spend together you and your dog are able to get in touch with one another, to learn about each other and solve any problems in a healthy way, avoiding further problems later on. In addition, exercise helps to reduce boredom in dogs, which makes them much less likely to develop behavioural problems, and gives both you and your dog a mental boost that is great for your overall health.
